“Axie Infinity Gets Upgraded With New Game: Will NFTs Revive?”
Axie Infinity, a big name in the NFT gaming industry, has just revealed the trailer for Atia’s Legacy – a brand new MMO game in the Axie universe.
Sky Mavis, the development team, calls this “the next chapter” with the promise of an enhanced experience: from 3D combat, mini-games like fishing, puzzles, to a farming simulation. The trailer released on March 6, 2025 shows a huge step forward compared to the old 2D version.
Not only stopping at games, Sky Mavis also launched a program to invite friends, rewarding AXS tokens ($3.62) for each successful participant.
“The more friends, the more tokens,” they claim. The company plans to opena play-testin 2025, offering a basic product with group combat, resource crafting, and social interactions. An official release date , however, remains unknown.
The project leverages Sky Mavis’s seven years of experience developing Web3 games. On November 25, 2024, the company announced its plans to launch the game, just as it was cutting staff to focus resources on 2025 projects, including the ‘new Axie game ‘ that CEO Trung Nguyen mentioned.
The move comes as the US NFT market is heating up: the SEC just dropped its investigation into OpenSea ( February 22 ) and Yuga Labs ( March 3 ), calling it a “huge win” because “NFTs are not securities.”
Even President Trump’s affiliated company, DTTM Operations, filed an application to trademark the word “TRUMP” for NFTs and the metaverse on February 28 .
At the same time, other blockchain games like Gunzilla’s Off The Grid also got a major update with jetpacks and aiming support.
